What you should know about Bridgetown Tourist Centre

This school opened in 1908 and closed in 1943 when children were transferred to schools in the Bridgetown town site. The school building continued to be old as a church and recreational meeting store until it was demolished in 1985. Local community groups were instrumental in assisting the Shire of BridgetownGreenbushes in undertaking restoration labor on the Reserve and the planting of local native species. The Reserve has a series of walk trails, a bird watching point and picnic shelter. There is also an abundance of wildflowers during spring. The Memorial Park is on Hampton Street, Bridgetown and is a sound area for children of all ages as it is fully fenced. On the rise on the other side of the brook (access through a kid proof gate) is the War Memorial. Excellent picnic and BBQ facilities are available and the park is the begin and conclude point for three signposted walk trails. There is enough of space for picnics and a run around for the kids. Markets are held in the park once a fortnight on a Sunday morning and are popular with locals and visitors identical who come to purchase new local produce and much more it is also a social outing to confront friends. The area has many beautiful picnic spots in a selection of gardens and parks all over the Shire. From the town center, drive over the Blackwood River bridge. Cranky the River by the bridge that replaced the ingenious ford. There are many impaired buildings in the Green bushes township, including the used schoolhouse. From the town center, head north to the township of Balingup. From the town center drive over the Blackwood River bridge. Turn correct into giblet St, then correct again into Blechynden St. Receive the second turn left around the hill, where there is a expansive panorama of Mattamattup Valley. Remain downhill toward the Blackwood River. Ignore the cattle grids, but remember parts of this road are private property so proceed slowly and with care. Proceed to the top of the hill and receive a second turn to the correct to the water reservoir and for views across the Valley. This was originally John Allnutt's property where apples were first grown commercially in the district. Remain through the forest and turn left when you arrive the sealed road, this will receive you back to the Brock man Hwy, turn correct to return to Bridgetown. Remain until you have aspiring over the Blackwood River. Turn right, irritable over the bridge back to Bridgetown.
